The marketing/sales management discipline encompasses a broad range of business activities, including pricing strategies, promotional techniques (e.g., advertising, public relations, publicity), product distribution and sales efforts. The job of a professional marketer is to identify and define "target" customer characteristics thereby determine the most effective ways to stimulate interest and demand for a given product.
