   Introduction - M.Sc. (Genetics)
  This is a programme, which will lead to a Postgraduate Master of Science Degree. The objectives of the course are to introduce the principles of Classical, Molecular and Population genetics, to increase and improve the understanding of current concepts and techniques used in research in Molecular Genetics and to provide a broad range of transferable skills including; scientific writing, presentation and the use of Information Technology resources in Genetics.

     Students will find employment in the pharmaceutical sector, in industries that produce medical therapeutics, diagnostics and healthcare devices. They will undertake tasks that include research and development of new therapies and therapeutics, often based on the growing knowledge of genetics. They will also be trained to undertake management and operational roles in the production of healthcare products, for which expertise in cell culture, for example, is essential.
