This course is designed to either prepare students for a career in fisheries economics and management or to formalize and develop the skills held by current fisheries managers. It provides students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of the theoretical aspects of fisheries economics and management, and also to learn of developments at the forefront of research and practice. The information provided by fisheries economists is now regarded as an essential accompaniment to that provided by fisheries biologists, and increasingly forms the basis of fisheries management and development plans.
