COURSE DETAILS
   Introduction - B.Sc. (Molecular Biology)
Molecular Biology is a clearly defined and recognised academic discipline that integrates biochemistry, genetics and cell biology, providing an understanding of biological processes at the molecular level. Applications of molecular biology include the diagnosis of inherited gene defects, somatic gene therapy, the production of transgenic crops, forensic DNA profiling, the development of novel vaccines, the use of plants as 'bio factories' to produce pharmaceutically active compounds and the development of new drugs to fight cancer.

      Career Opportunities
A wide range of career opportunities is available to graduate bioscientists. Graduates go on to postgraduate study, which can lead to careers at high levels in fundamental and applied research and development. Other graduates find direct employment in many areas. Fields of special interest to biologists include agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, forensic Science and the wide area of medical biotechnology. There are many roles available to our graduates, ranging from the analysis of organisms and compounds, through product development and quality controls to marketing.
